Literacy and Oracy
Because it's so much more than grammar, spelling and knowing what to do with a fronted adverbial.
We are delighted as the next person to see that oracy is finally taking its place back among the key skills all children should be picking up.
Writing well and speaking well are skills that will set any young person up for life.
The thing is, good teachers have been practising oracy for years.
And not just in the English classroom.
Below are some of our Associates who have a great track record for bringing the best out the mouths of all their children and young people.
Whether it's Crista Hazell in her MFL classrooms, Mark Creasy, Ian Timbrell and Will Ryan in their primary classrooms, Lisa Jane Ashes in her English and also cross-curricular work or even Mikey Markham with his performance poetry, we've been doing the business when it comes to oracy and literacy for many years.
And that includes in EYFS too through the work of Dr Sarah Moseley and Ruth Swailes.
Not to mention Nina Jackson and her work on literacy and oracy with a SEND perspective.
And there's a new INSET event which brings together storyteller extraordinaire Hywel Roberts with English expert Martin Illingworth.
Watch this space for more on that, coming soon.
