Lottie's Leaflet
How one girl's experience can help limb-different children everywhere
A few weeks, ago we saw a message from our 'Granny with a Camera' Jane Hewitt.
It related to an unfortunate incident experienced by a young girl with a limb difference at a swimming session she was attending.
Only this girl, Lottie, happened to be a Youth Ambassador for the charity Jane helped set up, LimbBo Foundation, whose mission is to 'support children with a limb difference and their families'.
Rather than being angry or hurt, the foundation realised there was an opportunity here.
How can we educate children and young people to know what to say and do when interacting with peers with a limb difference?
And so Lottlie's Leaflet was born.

This easy-to-read leaflet is full of tips and advice to help all of us in our interactions with children and young people with limb-differences.
What to say. What to ask. What not say or ask. It's all there.
It's non-judgemental, honest and helpful and you can download a copy here.
There are also other helpful leaflets you can download here if you have a child with a limb difference entering your school, nursery or class next year.
At a time when 'othering' seems to be the order of the day, it is increasingly important that we educate children into understanding that, despite our differences, we are all the same.
Thank you Jane and LimbBo Foundation - keep up the great work. [ITL]
