Richard has over twenty years’ experience working in the field of substance misuse with young people in various areas of drug support, awareness and education. He has worked across numerous drug services and more recently the Probation Service. He is a member of the national Drug Education Practitioner’s Forum and an advisor, trainer and consultant, constantly keeping himself up to date with the ever-changing drugs scene and working with young people across the UK.
For Richard, the key is to educate young people as young as possible (yes, primary schools, we mean you), educate them as well as possible in an engaging, interactive and entertaining way without talking down, moralising or finger-wagging and then continue to support them so, when faced with a choice, they will make the healthy choice.

Feedback from recent events include:
"Our Sixth Form students really enjoyed Richard's workshops on drugs and alcohol: not only were they detailed, age appropriate and engaging, but he has an infectious style which makes young people engage both with him and the topics very well. When asked by myself whether we should invite him back, every single student gave a resounding 'yes ' answer. I cannot recommend him enough to schools - he was brilliant"
"We have used Richard's expertise in several ways: training key pastoral staff including welcome advice on our drugs policy, for parental information evenings and pupil drugs awareness sessions. He is well-informed, a lively, humorous and experienced presenter who, crucially, gains the respect of pupils. Highly recommended"
"Thank you very much for the wonderful INSET that you delivered to the staff last Thursday. Your knowledge and enthusiasm were totally infectious and I cannot begin to tell you how much the staff enjoyed your presentation. You will be pleased to know that I have received an unprecedented amount of positive feedback from colleagues"
"Richard’s knowledge ensured that no question went unanswered and all the staff left with a real confidence to work with young people who may be using drugs and alcohol"
"The staff commented that it was the best INSET they had attended and they were grateful for the practical teaching advice and the wealth of resources made available to them"
Being a governor is an incredibly important task these days so we are delighted when we are asked to support them in their work in all sorts of schools around the country. Apart from ensuring the event is an entertaining and enjoyable one for all, especialy as it is so often on a rainy Saturday, we make sure our input is informative, relevant, up to date and guarantees all governors go back into their schools knowing what to look for, what to do and the rights sorts of questions to ask.
