A Leveller Not a Label - Helping Disadvantaged Pupils Thrive

Thursday 13th January 2022

7.00pm - 8.30pm

90 minutes

£38.29 per delegate (ask about special rates for block bookings)

Overview:

A whistle-stop tour of research-informed strategies for helping disadvantaged students achieve the best they can from Associate Haili Hughes.

The session will explore the issues through two lenses: firstly, the presenter's own experiences as a disadvantaged child and secondly, as an experienced teacher in a school with a high intake of disadvantaged students.

There will be honesty, inspiration and tangible takeaways, as well as practical strategies to implement immediately in any school context.

Helping those who need our help most is more than paying for trips and sitting Pupil Premium kids near the front. Haili knows, she has lived it.

Key Takeaways:

  • Learn what life is REALLY like for a disadvantaged child
  • Explore and consider what your school already does to break down barriers to learning
  • Learn how to engage parents more successfully
  • Find out what works with revision
  • Help your most able disadvantaged students reach for the stars

For secondary practitioners - teachers, middle and senior leaders.
