His passion for working within challenging communities is matched by his passion for through-schooling, for innovation inside and outside the classroom and for leadership that is both courageous and humane.
His first book Are You Dropping the Baton? challenged schools to get transition right. Brave Heads encouraged head teachers to lead using their heart and their head and his third book, Leadership Dialogues with Professor John West Burnham, provides ideas and resources to help leadership teams to transform their school by using the latest research.
An article by Dave in School Leadership Today magazine called "How quality conversations can transform your school", containing many practical activities for school leadership teams can be found here.
Dave is Business Director of Independent Thinking in the UK as well as a popular speaker and writer both nationally and internationally.

Being a governor is an incredibly important task these days so we are delighted when we are asked to support them in their work in all sorts of schools around the country. Apart from ensuring the event is an entertaining and enjoyable one for all, especialy as it is so often on a rainy Saturday, we make sure our input is informative, relevant, up to date and guarantees all governors go back into their schools knowing what to look for, what to do and the rights sorts of questions to ask.
