For John it’s quite simple – if your science lessons aren’t the most absorbing, engaging, gross, fascinating, smelly, exciting, practical, electrifying, challenging and explosive lessons that your children experience then you’re doing something dreadfully wrong!

Drawing on over 25 years’ experience as a science teacher, head of department, deputy head, PGCE tutor and science advisor, John knows what it takes to make science come alive for all children, whether it’s high-flying academic types or students for whom the science lab is simply that smelly room you come to to set fire to your friend’s pencil case. What’s more, as editor to Jackie Beere’s best-selling Perfect (Ofsted) Lesson and Perfect Teacher books as well as writing his own Perfect (Ofsted) Science Lesson John knows his way round all that schools need to do to not only pass their inspection with flying colours but also genuinely engage children in their own learning.

Events

Governor Event

Being a governor is an incredibly important task these days so we are delighted when we are asked to support them in their work in all sorts of schools around the country. Apart from ensuring the event is an entertaining and enjoyable one for all, especialy as it is so often on a rainy Saturday, we make sure our input is informative, relevant, up to date and guarantees all governors go back into their schools knowing what to look for, what to do and the rights sorts of questions to ask.
