With many years experience wading through the marshland that is local government, Peter Butcher is now bringing his unique talents and high boredom threshold to Independent Thinking as we set up the Big i Trust and explore other exciting projects.
In another life Peter was a well-respected Deputy Chief Executive & Director of a local authority and he has a proven track record of seeing an idea through effectively from conception to completion with a minimum of fuss and an acute sense of irony.
Thirty years of frontline service delivery, operational management and strategic leadership experience - not to mention 15 years moonlighting as a town clerk then a parish clerk - and involvement with charities for many years means Peter has a wealth of invaluable experience. He has recently set up his own consultancy the Peter Butcher Consultancy.
Peter’s role has been to set up the Big i Trust deed in our approach to the Charities Commission, bring together the trustees and work to match projects to funding as we launch this exciting new initiative.
As Peter says: “Sometimes it’s the schools, organisations and people that will benefit the most from Independent Thinkings important work who can afford it the least”. My job is to bridge that gap”.
