For anyone who still thinks that trying harder to make the old way work is the way ahead then you need to see what Simon Cooper-Hind did with the council estate school where he was the head. If ever there was an example of Independent Thinking ideas in action then this is it. Thanks to imagination, innovative ideas, and an outstanding ability to motivate both children and adults alike, Simon’s commitment to make learning better has always been paramount to his beliefs.
Simon's latest innovative work is in the area of 1:1 coaching to get the best out of young people whether that is tackling behaviour, or truancy, to setting high aspirations and achieving outstanding results whether this be for primary children or secondary students.
Simon also offers 1:1 coaching for staff, or group coaching e.g. senior leaders.
‘Thanks for the fantastic Inset Day you led for us yesterday. As I walked around school today, there was an even greater buzz than usual and I could hear many of your ideas being used, you would have been proud!’
‘Thank you for a really fun day today. Last year was my toughest ever year in teaching after 17 of them!! And I was feeling pretty intrepid and unconfident. However you have helped to turn that around…. Bring it on’
Simon has been in education for over 25 years, 18 of which have been in senior leadership. As an inspirational Headteacher transforming two underperforming schools into highly effective learning communities.
OFSTED said,
- ‘The Headteacher provides excellent leadership and has a clear vision for the future of the school’
- ‘He motivates, inspires and enthuses his staff, and pupils, to give of their best’
The Local authority stated,
- ‘The judgement based on the process of self evaluation is outstanding'.
He is a consultant leader for the National College of School Leadership and an accredited coach.
His later school was wedged between two motorways, allowing no excuses for bad behavior, low standards, or a lack of opportunities for his learners to learn, Simon’s fearless willingness to take risks with his motivated team turned the school around from being at the bottom of the pile to one rated in the top 3% of schools nationally for value added.
Simon is an inspirational speaker who excels at motivating and enthusing his audience. His energy and enthusiasm for education has earned him a national and international reputation as a charismatic presenter and skilled coach. Whether it is working with adults or children of all ages to capture the love of learning Simon will ‘Make it Real’ and provide practical strategies to help get the job done - that of creating an innovative creative curriculum and stimulating learning environment.
‘I should be grateful if you would pass on our thanks to Simon for his marvellous blend of inspiration and humour which was just what was needed to leave our audience buzzing with enthusiasm'
‘Inspiring, relevant, excellent. Ideas I can take away and try in my own school’
‘Blooming hard work but very inspiring, gained more confidence – new materials – different ideas, excellent day. Thank you’
‘After 15 years of teaching it is great to go to a seminar that makes you feel inspired and makes you realise just why we love our job! A reminder it is about the children and not all the paperwork!!’
Simon’s clear vision, and his ability to inspire an appreciation of what really matters, is equally effective at challenging Senior Leadership Teams, developing creativity and learning, incorporating assessment 4 learning to maximize potential, or working directly with students in “show and tell” events. Simon brings the theory of education into practice in a way which is effective, different, and fun.
Other feedback about Simon's work from recent Events include:
