Since Daniel Goleman's seminal book Emotional Intelligence was first published in the 90s (and click here for if you are one of the few who have not yet had the pleasure of reading this book) the concept of EQ has taken the world of business and education by storm.
To really succeed in the 21st century you need a mastery of self and an empathetic understanding of others. Without this your cleverness will not be as effective as it could be (think about doctors - or teachers - you know who are 'IQ clever' but have no people skills).
