In the 1960s a Bulgarian researcher called Georgi Lozanov discovered that a the right environment, the right lighting, the right music and the right teaching could dramatically improve students ability to learn both in terms of quantity, quality and speed.

He called his approach 'suggestopedia' after the way information was simply 'suggested' into the recipient's brain.

It is out of this early research that true Accelerated Learning grew although these days it tends to be associated with approaches including VAK, multiple intelligences and memory strategies too.
