Introducing Our Achievement Hit Squad

Because every little helps, we have brought together three of our top Associates who excel in getting the best out of some of the UK’s harder to reach young people.

Whether it’s a range of last minute tips and hint for revision, memory and learning for those who want to do well but are not sure how; whether it’s an entertaining and motivational ‘kick up the backside’ for those who could do well but need that extra push to be bothered to succeed or whether it’s a powerful and life-changing full–on challenge to them to have the discipline to expect more for themselves, then we have just what your students need.

Every single school of the many that Jim Roberson worked with last year saw their grades improve. And Jim is very proud of the role he played in helping them achieve that. Tackling issues such as self discipline and behaviour head on and drawing on his experience growing up in the Bronx, working in one of the south coast’s most challenging schools and coaching one of the UK’s top American football teams, Jim’s work with students is powerful, practical and life changing. Dave Keeling has the gift of winning over a year group full of recalcitrant and disaffected young people dragging themselves into a lecture theatre, before they have even sat down! His presentation, opening them up to the challenges of life beyond school, let alone the need to be all they can be at school, combines stand up comedy with messages and practical advice that really hit home with young people and challenge them to, in Dave’s words, ‘be arsed’! Try as you might to help give young people different strategies for doing well in the classroom and exam hall, sometimes it takes someone form the outside to give students that extra push to help them live up to their potential. For several years Tim Benton has worked with young people across the UK, delivering presentations and workshops that are both entertaining and practical when it comes to making the most of the brainpower that all students have and at a time when they need it most. Each of these Associates is entirely flexible in their approach, working with whole year groups, smaller target groups or a combination of both. They also go down very well with teachers and parents if you choose to ‘bolt on’ a twilight or evening session to their day with your students.

Being set challenging targets can make the challenge seem impossible before you start. We also know that we can help you with just what you need, when you need it and in a way that works for you we look forward to having the opportunity to work with you soon.

To discuss your school’s specific needs and to help you design a day that work best for you, the first step is to speak to the Independent Thinking office. Simply e-mail on learn@independentthinking.co.uk or call on 0844 589 0490.

Remember: All Independent Thinking Associates are CRB checked as you would expect, however, during their work with young people, they are not legally 'in loco parentis'. It is a condition of our work with our clients that a qualified teacher is present at all times. Associates have been instructed to suspend their work if they find themselves alone with young people until a teacher is present. This is a sign of the times and we are sure you will be supportive of this policy.
