When a child loses a parent

Thankyou to Ian Gilbert and his children for the brilliant succinct guidelines for schools - i would like to see them laminated and up in every staff room as a reminder to adults - in fact as a parent in a similar position I would like to see them being used in colleges - my daughter is studying art in uni and one of the 3 tutors in her dept, who sees her in the studio most days,  hasnt even managed to say hello to her since she lost her dad at |Christmas! Reading your leaflet reminded me that I am our expectations of the college are not unreasonable.  I admire you all for managing to do something so practical in the midst of your grief - thankyou

As a healthy schools coordinator i have been asked by my schools to organise training for staff on supporting pupils with loss and bereavement. I would like to ask your permission to translate your guidance into Welsh and give every school a laminated copy for their staff rooms as a reminder to everyone.

Also I have been told that you are an excellent speaker and wondered if you would be available and willing to speak at a teachers course on supporting pupils through loss and bereavement (or run the course for me). The course would be in Conwy North Wales. I would need to know what you would charge and would like to discuss content for the course with you. I am available on 01492 575045 or by email wendy.ostler@conwy.gov.uk

  Best wishes
